Former Morgan County deputy arrested for alleged DWI crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A former Morgan County deputy could be charged criminally after crashing a vehicle and getting arrested on suspicion of DWI last week.

Tres T. Powers, 21, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, was driving his Ford Focus on Highway 5 near Route P in Morgan County when he went off the road at about 3 a.m. Thursday and overturned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Powers' injuries were minor and he was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital, the report says.

An MSHP arrest report says troopers arrested Powers on suspicion of DWI and released him for medical treatment. Charges against Powers are not yet posted in online court records.

A Morgan County Sheriff's Office spokesman says the department fired Powers and he is not eligible to be rehired. Powers has a valid peace officer's license but is not commissioned by any agency, a Missouri Department of Public Safety spokesman says.
