Elderly Tennessee man seriously injured in Boone County I-70 crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An elderly Tennessee man suffered serious injuries in a crash in Boone County on Monday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 78-year-old man from Johnson City, Tennessee, was driving a 2026 Subaru Outback westbound on Interstate 70 at the 136-mile marker in Boone County at 3:28 p.m. Monday.

The crash report states that the vehicle traveling in the left lane veered off the left side of the road during a curve in a construction zone and struck a concrete barrier.

The man was taken to University Hospital via university ambulance with serious injuries.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A second vehicle was included in the report after debris from the Subaru hit the windshield. The 35-year-old driver from San Francisco, California, was not hurt.
