Woman accused in baby’s death has bond lowered again
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A woman who was accused in the death of a baby saw her bond lowered again.
Lavosha Daniels, 32, of Independence – who is the mother of the baby -- was charged with abandoning a corpse and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held at the Boone County Jail. Her bond was previously lowered to $500,000 in June 2023 and it is now currently $100,000. Her next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30.
Samone Daniels, who was 4-5 months old, was found dead outside of a tire store in 2019. The child was killed after they were allegedly strangled by Staffone Fountain.
Staffone Fountain, 32, of Independence, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child endangerment and abandoning a corpse. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. He was previously charged with first-degree murder. A pretrial conference for Fountain was set for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. His trial is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Former Columbia Police Department Chief Geoff Jones said in June 2022 that the baby died two years before her remains were discovered inside a bag behind a business on Providence Road in Columbia in 2019.
A note turned in to police in 2022 implicated Fountain in the killing of Samone Daniels, previous reporting says.
