Police: One dead after stabbing at Douglass Park, suspect in custody
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
One man is dead and another was arrested following a stabbing at Douglass Park on Monday night, according to a Columbia Police Department spokesman.
CPD spokesman Brian McNeill did not give the identity of the victim or the man arrested on Monday night. An ABC 17 News reporter saw a tarp placed in the park and two spokespeople for CPD confirmed it was the body of the victim. There are no other suspects in this case, according to police.
Police wrote on social media that the victim and suspect were both men and that "there is no outstanding threat to the public."
An ABC 17 News reporter initially saw first responders giving an individual CPR at the scene when they arrived.
At least a dozen law enforcement officers were on the scene, which included Columbia police officers and Missouri State Highway patrol troopers. A Columbia fire truck was also at the scene. Two ambulances were seen, but had left before 8:50 p.m. .
Police tape was put up and Fifth Street near the park was blocked off.
