COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police have identified a 34-year-old man killed Wednesday afternoon in a shooting in a residential area of northwest Columbia.

Royelle Hunt, 34, of Columbia, was found at the scene on Doris Drive with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead, the Columbia Police Department said in a statement.

Officers also found another man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital and was stable Thursday, police say.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting or whether it happened inside a home or outside. A police spokesperson said Wednesday that there was no threat to the community.

Hunt was charged with three felonies last May for allegedly exchanging shots with another man outside a Hy-Vee supermarket. A trial was pending when he died.

Police have given no indication that his shooting Wednesday was related to that case.
