A man charged in relation to a fight at Columbia’s Activity and Recreation Center in June has been arrested.

Kameron Mearidy, 19, of Columbia, was booked into the Boone County Jail at 6:22 p.m. Thursday and is being held on a $20,000 bond. He was charged earlier this month with first-degree assault. An arraignment was scheduled for Friday. Jail records indicate his next court date is Thursday, Sept. 28.

He was initially issued a citation, according to court records.

According to a probable cause statement, Mearidy was seen on camera kicking and punching someone more than 20 times. After the victim fell to the ground, he continued to land punches and also allegedly kicked and stomped the victim at least four times while he was still on the ground.

Court documents say the victim had visible injuries and was bleeding from their mouth. The statement says he was missing several teeth.

Lakeisha R. Thomas, 37, was also charged for her involvement in the incident with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Thomas was held in the jail on a $25,000 bond, which was posted July 21, according to court records.

A motion for continuance was filed this week for Thomas. Hearings for Thomas are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, and 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, according to Casenet.

Thomas allegedly told police that she grabbed her gun from outside the building and went back inside the ARC where people were still fighting when she hit someone with a gun, according to a probable cause statement. The action led to a boy's teeth being knocked out, according to the statement.

Four people in total were arrested the day of the fight, according to previous reporting.
