MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mexico, Missouri man was sentenced Monday after he pleaded guilty to breaking into a hospital.

According to online court records, Geoffrey Allen pleaded guilty to an amended misdemeanor count of second-degree property damage after he broke into the Audrain Community Hospital last April.

In a plea agreement, Allen will serve two years of unsupervised probation instead of 30 days in the Audrain County Jail.

Prosecutors also dismissed two counts as part of the agreement.

Allen was originally charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and a misdemeanor count of stealing.

Mexico Public Safety Department said when he was arrested that there was no evidence he stole any personal information or medical records.

The hospital was closed at the time of the break-in after then-hospital operator Noble Health suspended operations and furloughed 175 employees.
