Umpire accused of assaulting deputy, held on $100,000 bond
MACKS CREEK, Mo. (KMIZ)
An umpire from Versailles faces an assault charge after allegedly trying to choke a Camden County Sheriff’s Deputy on Saturday, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Neal Sidebottom, 56, is charged with first-degree assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Camden County Jail on a $100,000 bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the press release, deputies were called to Ballparks National on Kissick Way in Macks Creek for a disturbance involving an umpire and a player’s parent.
A witness allegedly told deputies that Sidebottom allegedly shoved a woman during an argument. Sidebottom allegedly refused to give his name to the deputy. He allegedly tried to walk away from the deputy during the investigation, according to the release.
The deputy allegedly tried to stop him from leaving and Sidebottom then put him in a chokehold, according to the release.
