Man charged with murder in Randolph County crash now in county jail

HUNTSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Moberly man facing multiple murder charges – in relation to head-on collision that killed pregnant woman -- is now in the Randolph County Jail.

Steven Lee Garrett, 47, was arrested Tuesday by Randolph County deputies at Rusk Rehab Facility in Columbia, according to Randolph County Sheriff Aaron Wilson.

Wilson told ABC 17 News that after the crash, Garrett was at University Hospital and was then transferred to Rusk Rehab Facility.

Garrett is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, armed-criminal action and four counts of driving while intoxicated (including death of two, causing serious physical injury, causing physical injury and aggravated DWI).

He is being held at the jail without bond. A court date has yet to be set.

The crash killed Maya Stilwell, who was six or seven months pregnant, according to the probable cause statement.
