Police: ‘Intoxicated’ man with gun caused Moberly standoff
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An "intoxicated" man fired a gun into the air before having a standoff in with police in the stairwell of an apartment building, Moberly police allege.
Zeno T. Finley, 34, was arrested late Tuesday after the standoff in the four-unit apartment building in the 800 block of Franklin Street, according to a probable cause statement filed Wednesday. Finley was charged in Randolph County with three counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count each of illegal gun possession and drug possession.
Finley remained in the Randolph County Jail on Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses told police they saw a man fire a gun into the air while he argued with a woman, the statement says. The woman and Finley then left the area. A witness later told police the woman was Finley's ex-girlfriend, according to the statement.
The documents say a witness told police they saw a man with a gun in the apartment building stairwell after the shot was fired and the standoff ensued. Finley ignored police commands but a SWAT team eventually arrested him without incident, police said.
Finley was taken to a hospital before being booked into jail.
Officers also found a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and a Seroquel pill while booking him, according to the statement.
