Columbia psychologist sentenced to prison for child sex crimes
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Boone County judge took the jury's recommendation Friday, sentencing a Columbia psychologist to seven years in state prison for child sex crimes.
Kurt Bumby was convicted of two counts of second-degree sodomy connected to events in 2010 and 2011. A victim told authorities in 2019 that he and Bumby had a sexual relationship when he was in high school.
The victim claimed the abuse would happen at Bumby's home in the middle of the night.
Judge Brouck Jacobs sentenced Bumby to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Bumby appeared by video from jail.
Bumby is also charged with two counts of sodomy in St. Louis County. A trial set for March was canceled and now a case management conference is set for May.
He is also facing trial for sodomy in St. Charles County.
