Two teens charged with hate crimes in Morgan County after allegedly shooting at church
MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Monday press release that it arrested four teenagers Saturday after about 50 rounds of ammunition were fired into Clearview Church.
Four teenagers were arrested throughout the day. Two of the teenagers were younger than 18 – ages 14 and 17 – and were transferred to the Juvenile Justice Center in Camdenton. Their names were not released.
Bryce Martin and Zachary Stauffer, 18, were arrested and are being held without bond at the Morgan County Jail.
Martin, of Fortuna, is charged with second-degree property damage motivated by discrimination, first-degree property damage, armed-criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. A hearing was held Monday. Martin said he could post $20,000 but was denied, according to Casenet. He has a bond appearance hearing set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 29.
Stauffer, of Versailles, is charged with second-degree property damage motivated by discrimination, first-degree property damage and armed-criminal action. He also appeared in court Monday and has a bond hearing set for for 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 29.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said it learned a church in Latham was also vandalized.
During the arrests, three handguns, ammunition and a vehicle were seized, according to the sheriff’s office.
