A 23-year-old man has been charged with several sex crimes.

Elijah Schwartz is charged with first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and fourth-degree assault. He is currently being held at the Boone County jail without bond.

An arraignment hearing was held Tuesday. A confined docket hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19, while a preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 10.

Schwartz was arrested Friday.

The alleged victim allegedly met Schwartz through the dating app Tinder and went to his apartment after dinner on Oct. 6, according to the probable cause statement. They stayed at his apartment overnight.

When the alleged victim tried to leave, Schwartz grabbed their throat, choked and slapped them. Schwartz then allegedly made them undress and sexually assaulted them.

The alleged victim found Schwartz's roommate in the apartment and asked them to call the police.
