Columbia man charged after Friday chase
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged Friday and jailed without bond after authorities say he was arrested following a chase.
Samuel L. Moss Sr., 44, was charged with drug disstribution after a chase that ended at the Clark Lane and Ballenger Lane roundabout in Columbia on Friday morning. Moss went off the road at the roundabout and crashed into a wooded area, a Boone County Sheriff's Office spokesman said. He ran but deputies caught up to Moss and arrested him, the spokesman said.
Deputies found marijuana and a scale inside the SUV that Moss was driving, according to the sheriff's office. His driver's license was revoked, the spokesman said.
Moss was taken into custody by the Department of Corrections before his scheduled first court hearing Monday, according to online court records. Moss is on probation for several drug-related charges, according to Department of Corrections online records.
The chase began when a deputy saw Moss driving and mistook him for the registered owner of the vehicle, who had a felony warrant for his arrest, the sheriff's office says. Moss, however, was not the registered owner.
