COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 33-year-old man was charged over the weekend with attempted child enticement in Boone County.

David L. Hoppock's first court appearance took place Monday and Hoppock appeared by video from the jail, according to online court records. He remained in the Boone County Jail without bond Monday afternoon.

Hoppock sent sexually explicit messages to a 12-year-old girl via social media Friday, including asking her to send him photos, according to a probable cause statement. The girl told Hoppock her age, investigators say.

Hoppock admitted to the communication under interrogation, according to the statement.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7.

Online court records did not list an address for Hoppock.
