Boone County's top prosecutor will represent the state in a local police chief's domestic assault case.

Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight, or someone he designates, has been appointed special prosecutor in the case against Auxvasse Police Chief Kevin Suedmeyer, according to court records. Suedmeyer is accused of fourth-degree domestic assault for allegedly leg sweeping his 15-year-old son in an argument over the boy's grades, according to court documents.

Suedmeyer is free on bond pending trial. The City of Auxvasse suspended Suedmeyer after he was charged.

No hearings are scheduled in the case.
