Columbia police arrested a man accused of an armed robbery that happened last week.

Boone County prosecutors charged Patrick Taylor, 26, of Columbia, with felony counts of assault, robbery and armed criminal action.

The police department said in a release Thursday morning a person reported being robbed of their wallet at gunpoint in the 1800 block of E. Broadway.

Taylor's probable cause statement said he approached the victim, asked for money and aimed a silver handgun at the person.

The robbery victim told police Taylor pulled the trigger and heard the gun make a click but it did not fire. Taylor took about $100 from the person, the court document said.

Police said Taylor was identified at the scene by security camera footage.

Documents said Taylor was also suspected of another incident near the location of the alleged robbery approximately 30 minutes before.

Officers arrested Taylor on Saturday at a residence in the 3000 block of Alpine Drive. Court documents said a handgun matching the description of the one used in the robbery was found in Taylor's room.

Police said the clothing Taylor wore in the security footage was also found in the room.

Boone County Jail records said Taylor was in jail custody being held without bond as of Monday.
