Police are investigating a report of a home invasion in southeast Columbia and bullets hitting homes in east Columbia late Monday and early Tuesday.

The first incident was reported at about 10 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of Aspen Heights Parkway, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. The three people who live at the address told police that three intruders with guns broke in and pistol whipped two of the occupants, police said.

They suffered injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

The residents described the intruders as two males and a female who were wearing masks, police said. The residents provided no other description, police said.

The second incident was reported at about 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 4800 block of Moniteau Court. Officers found shell casings and damage to several residences.

Nearby residents told police they heard gunshots but could not describe a vehicle the shooters were driving.

Police said the investigations were ongoing Tuesday morning and that CPD had no other details to provide.
