Woman sentenced to 5 years of probation for abducting child

Aubrey Ferguson was sentenced to five years of supervised probation after she was arrested in 2019 accused of kidnapping her son.

A woman was sentenced to five years of supervised probation on Wednesday accused of abducting her own child.

Aubrey Ferguson pleaded guilty in November to a felony count of child abduction. Online court records show Camden County Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden ordered Ferguson to pay $6,426 in restitution.

Ferguson was arrested Jan. 8, 2019 in Laclede County after authorities found her and Ferguson's missing son inside her boyfriend's attic.

Ferguson's then 6-year-old her son was reported missing in August of 2018, she abducted the child during a scheduled visitation.

Woodrow Ziegler is charged with hindering prosecution of a felon linked to a child abduction case out of Laclede County.

Authorities said Ferguson and her boyfriend Woodrow Ziegler kept the child locked in the attic. Online court records show Ziegler faces a charge of hindering prosecution of a felon in Laclede County. The next court hearing in his case is scheduled for Feb. 3.
