Mid-Missouri school districts confirm COVID-19 cases among students and teachers
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Some Mid-Missouri school districts have been hit with new COVID-19 cases over the last two weeks.
Sarah Marriott, Boonville R-I School District Superintendent, said two students tested positive for the virus at the middle school within the last two weeks. It led to 36 students being quarantined.
The superintendent said those students who tested positive were separate exposures.
One staff member also tested positive at Boonville High School, which led to four additional staff members being quarantined.
According to the JC Schools COVID-19 Positive Case Tracker, Thomas Jefferson Middle School had five students test positive on Saturday. The total brings the school to eight students and one staff positive for the month.
Throughout the district, 10 new positive cases were confirmed over the weekend.
JC Schools officials asked 17 close contacts to quarantine linked to the new cases.
Since school started, the school district has seen 75 positive cases and 99 close contacts. It includes 52 active cases.
A Blair Oaks School District release from Sunday said a fourth-grade teacher tested positive for COVID-19.
Blair Oaks says the teacher was not in class on Friday and precautions in the classroom prevented any students from being considered close contacts. However, four other staff members were asked to quarantine as close contacts.
