VIDEO: MU Health Care outlines plans for phased reopening

COLUMBIA, Mo. KMIZ -

MU Health Care Dr. Mark Wakefield joined ABC 17 News This Morning to discuss the hospital's efforts to reopen.

Wakefield said MU Health Care has taken multiple precautions as it starts the phased reopening.

The hospital has installed clear protective shields to protect employees and patients, along with moving seating 6 feet apart.

Wakefield said this will be the 'new normal' for hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added allowing visitors into the hospital will be one of the last restrictions lifted because of the increased risk of infection.
