Tracking flooding and severe storms for Easter Sunday weekend
SATURDAY: Showers will be scattered to start the day, but widespread rain returns in the afternoon. However, rain will likely fall all day along and near I-44, contributing to a moderate flood risk across our southern counties. Temperatures dwell in the 50s under the rain.
EASTER SUNDAY: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect for Easter Sunday for potential severe storms in the afternoon and evening. Rain will likely still be falling in the morning, but the atmosphere is expected to recover through the day as temperatures warm to the 60s and 70s. Severe storms will first roll in from the southwest by mid to late afternoon, then progress east through the evening. Hail and high winds are possible early on, with the threat shifting to all hazards, including a few tornadoes, in the evening. The severe threat will wane before midnight.
EXTENDED: Flooding remains a concern all weekend with a Flood Watch in effect along and south of I-70 through Sunday. Rain briefly clears out on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures warming through the 60s and 70s. An active, wet pattern then returns for the rest of next week.
