Man accused of having stolen gun on New Year’s Eve
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged with a pair of gun crimes on Thursday after police arrested him at a scene on New Year’s Eve.
Jay’Veon Miller, 19, was charged with illegal gun possession and stealing a gun. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond and a court appearance was held on Thursday.
Police were called Tuesday evening to the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and West Worley Street for a report of shots fired, court documents say. Police did not write if damage was observed in the area.
Miller and another person were in a car “that was parked directly in front of the target residence of the shots fired incident,” court documents say. Police searched the car and Miller after a seeing a gun in the vehicle, the statement says. Police also allegedly found a gun while searching Miller. That gun was reported stolen, the statement says.
Miller allegedly told police that he got the gun from a residence on Rice Road, court documents say.
