Area union representing workers at Wildcat Materials announces strike

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

LiUNA Local 955 members at Wildcat Materials, Inc. announced in a Sunday press release that they are going on strike.

The union claims it has been bargaining with management since December 2021.

Demands include higher pay, more affordable insurance and overtime pay after an eight-hour workday as opposed to a 40-hour work week.

Wildcat Materials workers and other LiUNA members will be picketing outside the office and yard -- located at 8501 E Trade Center Drive in Columbia -- from 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Local 955 members from other workplaces will be join Wildcat Materials workers at a rally Friday, according to the press release.

LiUNA Local 955 is a union in Mid-Missouri that represents workers at the City of Centralia, City of Columbia, Boone County Road & Bridge, University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Missouri-Kansas City, MU Health Care, Truman State University, City of Kirksville & MFA Feed Mills in Mexico and Kirksville, and Wildcat Materials.

Wildcat is a supplier for residential and commercial construction products and tools; including drywall, steel framing, acoustical tile and insulation
