Sorrels Overpass in Columbia reopens
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The rebuilding of the Sorrels Overpass over Interstate 70 in Columbia is complete.
The Missouri Department of Transportation awarded a contract of a little more than $1 million in October, days after the overpass was badly damaged after being snagged by a boom on a truck. The work caused intermittent lane closures for the demolition of the old bridge and the construction of a new one.
MoDOT originally estimated the project would be complete in late May. Earlier this month, that was revised to May 13. But MoDOT's Central District said in a tweet Tuesday that the new overpass is open.
The overpass is on Columbia's west side near Stadium Boulevard.
