COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility’s has opened the Cosmo Park recycling drop-off center at the Parks Management Center to the public.

Officials say the new drop-off center has six recycling receptacles surrounded by a concrete wall, which will be topped with fencing to help contain loose materials.

According to the release, receptacles will be able to accept mixed fibers (paper and cardboard) and mixed containers (rigid plastic, aluminum and steel cans) but officials ask customers to no trash in or near the bins.

This facility at 1403 Business Loop 70 West, just west of Schwabe Lane, is expected to provide additional recycling opportunities to citizens in the northern part of the City.

The Solid Waste Utility is actively looking for suitable properties in Columbia to construct additional drop-off recycling centers including a proposed recycling drop-off center off Oakland Gravel Road.
