Jefferson City, Russellville men dead after Cole County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man and a Russellville man died in a head-on crash Tuesday morning in Russellville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said on Twitter at about 7 a.m. that Route C between Route AA and Route U in east Russellville would be closed for an unknown length of time after a morning crash.

The crash happened when a van driven by Loren Nichols, 35, of Jefferson City crossed the center line and hit a truck driven by Richard Dippold, 39, of Russellville, according to a patrol crash report.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol reported.

Cole County authorities said in a public alert at about noon that the road had reopened.
