COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A power outage centered in the New Bloomfield area cut electricity to more than 1,400 Ameren Missouri customers Monday.

Ameren Missouri's online outage map showed 1,434 customers without power at 12:30 p.m. Monday. The outage started at about 11:30 a.m. and could take until 2:30 p.m. to fix, the utility's outage map says.

An Ameren Missouri spokesperson said an animal got into a substation and caused the outage. Crews were at the site and the utility hoped to have power restored by 2 p.m., the spokesperson wrote.
