AUXVASSE, Mo. (KMIZ)
33-year-old Damin Davis is no longer believed to be in the Stephens or Callaway County area, according to an update from the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
A shooting occurred on East Harrison Street in Auxvasse at about 12:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff.
Law enforcement believes the suspect Davis fled from the scene with his 10-year-old son in a black car. The car was found abandoned in the Stephens area around 4:45 p.m., according to the sheriff, which is north of I-70 near the 137-mile marker.
According to online court records, Davis has had a run-in with the law before as he was convicted of domestic assault back in March. He was ordered five years of probation as a result.
The 10-year-old son of Davis was found safe and returned to family Sunday evening according to the Callaway Sheriff.
Davis is believed to be traveling by walking and the Callaway County Sheriff's office warns he is considered armed and dangerous and to not approach but call 9-1-1 if Davis is seen.
ABC 17 talked to Lt. Harding with Callaway County Sheriff's Office on Monday who says an active search for Davis is now over.
However, Callaway County Sheriff's Office says they will be following up on any new information as they believe Davis has ties to neighboring counties. Meanwhile, authorities are encouraging everyone to secure their vehicles and doors and report any suspicious activity to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office
