MoDOT to hold public information meetings on Highway 54 study

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A pair of informational meetings will be hosted by the Missouri Department of Transportation later this month to give an update on a study of Highway 54 improvements between Mexico and Louisiana, according to a Wednesday press release.

The open-house meetings will be held:

  • 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Community R-6 School cafeteria
  • 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Bowling Green High School auditorium

There will be no presentation at the meetings -- according to the release – but information will be provided online on Oct. 17.

The study began last year, the release states. The 55-mile segment of Highway 54 in Ralls, Audrain and Pike counties has been evaluated and locations for passing lanes and/or shared four-lane improvements have been identified, according to the release. MoDOT says the project is not currently funded and a timeline for implementation has not been determined.

The release states any possible updates will not affect the roundabouts at Basinger and Scott’s Corners.
