ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

Ashland police confirmed officers have released the name of a deadly assault Friday morning.

Ashland police said in a release Friday afternoon that 47-year-old Moises Hernandez-Sanchez was killed in an assault in the 100 block of East Liberty Lane.

According to the release from the Ashland Police Department, police and deputies from the Boone County Sheriff's Office were sent to the scene at about around 1:30 a.m.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., police confirmed they found two victims of an assault at the scene.

Police said emergency responders took the two men to a local hospital. Police said Hernandez-Sanchez died at the hospital. The other victim, a man in his 20s, reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not immediately say what kind of injuries the victims suffered.

Andrew, Worrall, Ashland police public information officer, said homicides are unusual in Ashland, a town that averages zero homicides a year. Worrall said the last homicide he recalls was in 2017.
