Wentzville officers shoot, injure man outside store

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) — A man suspected of kidnapping an ex-girlfriend at gunpoint is hospitalized after being shot in the arm by police in the eastern Missouri town of Wentzville. The 53-year-old suspect was charged Thursday with first-degree kidnapping, fourth-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. Police were called to a Wentzville store Wednesday afternoon. Sgt. Jacob Schmidt told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the the man had a weapon and wouldn’t follow orders from police to drop it, prompting officers to open fire. The man did not fire any shots.
