COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

President Joe Biden will address the nation on Wednesday night, days before he leaves office.

President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated on Monday. Trump decisively won November's election over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden began his lone term as president during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some highlights from his tenure in office included the American Rescue Plan Act, Inflation Reduction Act, the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, America's response to the Ukraine-Russian War and the war in Gaza, which reached a cease-fire agreement on Wednesday.

He initially ran for reelection at the beginning of 2024, but dropped out of the race following a poor showing in a June debate against Trump.

In a statement released last week following a jobs report, Biden claimed his administration was “the only administration in history to have created jobs every single month.”

Though more than 16 million jobs were created during his period in office, inflation increased and concerns over it and other economic issues loomed over his presidency and remained a top issue for voters in 2024.
