Weather cancels first Thursday Night Live of the summer in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The first Thursday Night Live of the season in Jefferson City has been canceled because of storms in the forecast.

The band Zero to Ninety was scheduled to play the Downtown Jefferson City event.

The event is presented by Downtown Jefferson City and features live music, food and drinks for people of all ages in the area. A stage is located on High Street.

Some roads in the area are usually closed during the course of the event. Those included Monroe Street at East High Street down to Madison Street and will be clearly marked off.

In previous years, the Jefferson City Fire Department used fire trucks to block off the road leading to the stage. The Jefferson City police and fire departments partnered with the Downtown Jefferson City business to ensure the safety of those who attended.

Bars in the area were on the lookout for anyone who appeared to be drunk, and worked to make sure no one drove intoxicated.
