MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mexico Public Schools have canceled Friday classes for all schools after a threat was made towards the district.
Superintendent Melissa Chastain called parents on Thursday night to announce that classes had been canceled.
The message stated:
"This evening, we were made aware of a threat against the middle school and high school. At this time, we are unsure if the threat is credible. But it is being treated as a serious threat. Student safety at Mexico Public Schools is a top priority. As a precaution, we have decided to close all Mexico Public Schools tomorrow, Friday, October 28th in an effort to protect our students and staff. As always, we appreciate your support and understanding."
The Mexico Department of Public Safety wrote on social media that there are "snapchats that are being reposted about possible threats to the school."
