Three people hurt after crash on Highway 135 in Cooper County

Three people were hurt Sunday afternoon after a crash on Highway 135 in Cooper County.

The crash happened just before 4:20 p.m. at Mile Corner Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers said Ivan Sebastian Alvarez, 19, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, lost control of his car while driving through a curve on the highway.

An SUV driven by Donald E. Wilson, 68, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, crashed into Alvarez's car, according to the crash report. Troopers said both vehicles left the highway and caught on fire.

A passenger in the SUV, Sandra M. Wilson, 55, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and Alvarez were taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Emergency crews flew Donald Wilson by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries. MU Health Care said on Monday morning that Donald Wilson is in critical condition and Sandra Wilson is in serious condition.

Alvarez has been treated and released from the hospital.

Troopers said Donald Wilson, Sandra Wilson, and Alvarez were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
