A three-vehicle crash Saturday night in Osage County resulted in two people being taken to local hospitals.

The crash happened at 8 p.m. Saturday in Osage County on US 50 just east of County Road 822.

Vehicle one, a 2003 Mercury Sable, was attempting to pass a group of eastbound vehicles and hit vehicle two, a 2013 Dodge Journey.

This caused the Dodge to overturn into the path of vehicle three, a 2019 Ford E450.

The Ford hit the Dodge and both cars traveled off the north side of the road into a group of trees. The Mercury then went off the south side of the road hitting a fence and group of trees.

According to the crash report, two people were taken to the hospital after the accident, both coming from vehicle three.

A passenger, 36-year-old Brett Holtmeyer was taken by ambulance to University Hospital with moderate injuries and the driver 41-year-old Joshua Opperman was flown to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash report says both Holtmeyer and Opperman were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
