Multiple people seriously hurt in several mid-Missouri crashes

Multiple people were seriously hurt in several mid-Missouri crashes on Saturday.

Benton County

A man was flown to the hospital after a motorcycle crash.

45-year-old Corey Wheeler was driving along Macks Camp Ave. on Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle. He then overcorrected and overturned.

Wheeler was seriously hurt and flown to KU Medical Center for treatment.

According to the crash report, he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Macon County

23-year-old David Sizemore was driving along Highway 63, south of Route T on Saturday night, when he ran his motorcycle off the left side of the road. The bike then overturned and threw Sizemore off it.

He was seriously hurt and taken by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment.

MSHP says he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Phelps County

According to MSHP, two 14-year-olds were driving separate ATVs along County Rd. 7460 in Phelps Co. yesterday, when they tried to go around a curve.

The teenagers then both crashed into a pick-up truck.

One teen was seriously hurt and flown to University Hospital. The other only suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not hurt in the crash.

Johnson County

One man was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash in Johnson County on Saturday night.

According to MSHP, 65-year-old Robert Elliot was driving when he failed to go around a curve and the bike went off the right side of the road. The motorcycle then hit a culvert and went airborne and hit a road sign.

The bike then overturned and threw off Elliot.

The motorcycle was totaled in the crash.
