Prosecutors file murder charge against suspect in deadly Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Boone County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a suspect in a deadly Columbia shooting.
Isaac Bryant, 35, of Columbia, is charged in Boone County with felony counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. At last check, a warrant is out for Bryant's arrest.
Bryant is accused of shooting Demetrius Ware, 37, of Columbia, on Sunday just before 12:30 a.m. outside of a home in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. Police said Bryant drove by the home and shot Ware.
Ware was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A witness, who had recently ended a relationship with Bryant, identified him as the suspect, according to court documents. The witness reportedly told officers that Bryant had agreed to pick them up to go buy cigarettes before the shooting happened.
Police said the car Bryant used in the shooting was later found on Sunday morning near Lincoln Drive and Oak Street.
The driver's side window was broken out. Police said officers found two bullet casings under the driver's door. Investigators recovered three other bullet casings at the scene on Grand Avenue, according to court documents.
Another witness reportedly told officers Bryant asked them to return the car to its owner after the shooting.
