Second suspect arrested in connection to Talon Road shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE:

The Columbia Police Department announced Saturday morning it had arrested a second suspect in connection to last week's shooting off Talon Road.

In a press release, police said Timothy S. Ellis of Columbia was arrested for first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for his involvement with the shooting incident.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop of Ellis on Friday and while he initially stopped, he ended up fleeing from the scene.

Ellis ultimately collided with another vehicle on Brown Station Road, before exiting the vehicle and discharging a firearm, which struck himself in the leg.

Ellis continued to flee on foot, however officers were then able to catch him a short distance away and began providing medical care.

EMS transported him to a local hospital and police said when he is released from the hospital, he will be taken into custody and released to Boone County Jail.

Ellis was also arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, trafficking narcotics and distribution of narcotics after the incident Friday.

A gun and drugs were found in the car of the second shooting suspect arrested in connection to last week's shooting off Talon Road.

Columbia police say they arrested a second suspect Friday in connection with a Feb. 16 shooting off Talon Road.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said officers tried to pull over a suspect at Paris Road and Mexico Gravel Road when the suspect sped off and crashed into another vehicle. He identified the suspect as Timothy Ellis.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:50 p.m. at Brown Station Road and Blue Ridge Road.

A fire department spokesman said two patients were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for care. The suspect was taken to the hospital after shooting himself but has since been released back to police.

A Boone County prosecutor charged Adrian Bradshaw on Tuesday. Bradshaw is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Two witnesses on the scene spoke with ABC 17 about what they saw during and following the crash.

"I seen a car fly by me real fast, and he swerved into the other lane, and I seen the older couple, they just stopped their car, and he just ran right into them headfirst," Anthony Dick said.

Witness Bruce Alspaugh said the crash sounded like a bomb.

"I just hope that elderly couple is going to be ok, they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," Alspaugh said.

One man was hit in the Feb. 16 shooting, and a witness told ABC 17 News that three men got out of a car and started firing guns at the Hawks Ridge apartments that day. The victim was rushed to a hospital in a private vehicle. Police said in a probable cause statement that an earlier shooting that day in central Columbia that hurt a woman was connected to the Talon Road shooting.
