A Columbia man accused of a deadly shooting has been extradited back to Boone County.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Mark Achterberg, 36, was booked into the Boone County Jail on Sunday afternoon.

The Boone County Prosecutor's Office charged him last month with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Justin W. Stidman.

Deputies said Stidman was found shot on Nov. 8 at a home in the 5900 block of North Kent Drive.

According to the sheriff's office, Stidman told deputies "Mark" shot him. Deputies said Stidman's statement was recorded on their body-worn cameras.

Stidman later died from his injuries at a hospital.

A neighbor at the scene told deputies Achterberg threatened to shoot Stidman for allegedly stealing his truck, according to court documents.

Law enforcement officers later arrested Achterberg in Creston, Iowa.

According to the jail's records, Achterberg could appear at a court hearing Monday at 1:30 p.m.
