SSM Health no longer plans to sell hospital to Quorum Health
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
SSM Health announced its no longer planning to sell the hospital to Quorum Health.
The sale was first discussed in Nov. 2020. The organizations had signed a letter of intent to negotiate exclusively with each other with the hope to come in an agreement in the second quarter of 2021.
A spokesperson for the health system says the two parties have decided to end months-long discussions of the potential ownership transition. It was not specifically said why the deal was dropped.
SSM Health says it does plan to further expand services and invest in the care it provides.
Tennessee-based Quorum Health has 22 affiliated hospitals across the country and specializes in operating hospitals outside urban areas. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April and emerged in July.
In 2018, SSM explored selling its hospitals to University of Missouri Health Care.
