Midway Golf and Games flooded; manager believes it will get worse with the next round of rainfall
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Golf courses at Midway Golf and Games are flooded with several feet of water.
According to ABC 17's viewer reports the Boone County area was hit with about five to six inches of rain causing severe flooding all over the county.
The rain caused Perchie Creek and the Missouri River to overflow. Overflow from the creek caused the course to flood in a few hours.
Kory Niesen, Midway Golf and Games general manager said he had never seen the course flooded this bad.
"In the seven years that I've been here no, this is as bad as I can remember it being, and based on all indicators it's still rising," Niesen said.
Niesen said he believed the driving range was covered in probably six or seven feet of water.
Niesen said it was unusual for the golf course to get this flooded.
"For it to hop over and flood the Par three golf course and the mini-golf like it has is unusual and a little bit concerning," Niesen said.
In a Facebook post, Midway Golf and games said they would reevaluate the state of the flooding at three, and see if they could open again this evening.
