Boone County residents have been getting vaccinated more than any other Missouri jurisdiction.

According to the state dashboard, 37.4% of the Boone County population has received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Nearly three million vaccines have been given out statewide which equates to 30.4% of the population receiving at least one dose of the vaccine.

As of Sunday, 19.7% of the population is fully vaccinated.

MU Health Care is also holding a mass vaccination event Thursday through Saturday. According to MU Health Care, just under 7,000 vaccines are allotted to be given out and appointments are currently available on their website.

Boone Health is giving out the Pfizer vaccine at the Columbia Mall on Wednesday and Thursday. The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only vaccine approved for anyone who is 16 and 17 years of age. Appointments are currently available on their site.

The state vaccine website provides a map of vaccine providers broken down by counties within the state.

Some of the Boone County providers include:

  • D&H Drug Store
  • Walmart
  • Sam's Club
  • Burrell Pharmacy
  • Kilgore's Medical Pharmacy
  • Kinkead Pharmacy
  • Hy-Vee

Both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine are approved for residents at least 18-years-old.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that some people can experience side effects from the vaccine. These side effects can include pain, redness, and swelling of the injection side. People can also experience fatigue, headaches, chills, and fevers.

CDC data studied from December to January, showed women were more likely to experience vaccine side effects. The report said women were also more likely to experience the more unusual side effects. Within the Moderna cases studied, women made up 77% of the reported side effect cases.
