SATURDAY UPDATES: Montgomery County vaccinates 200 with extra doses

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: Montgomery County Health Department hosted a COVID-19 vaccine clinic Saturday at Montgomery City Elementary School.

The health department reports receiving an additional 200 vaccines this week and have scheduled those vaccines to be given at this clinic.

We were able to give 200 vaccinations in four hours. As soon as we receive more vaccine we will start making appointments again.

The clinic was by appointment only. The department said it was their goal to give vaccinations to all who have requested through the department.

ORGINAL: Missouri's COVID-19 positivity rate continues to fall, the state's seven-day rate hitting 9.5 percent Saturday.

The Department of Health and Senior Services reported 1,249 new cases of the virus on Saturday, bringing the total to 457,779.

The state also reported 9 new deaths, with the death toll now at 6,748.

At least 378,384 people have received the first dose of the vaccine in Missouri, which is 6.2 percent of the population.
