Some Mid-Missouri schools return to classrooms following Thanksgiving

Moberly works to bring new company, 200 jobs to city.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Students in Moberly returned to school Nov. 30, while Mexico students will return to the classrooms Monday.

Those in Moberly have the option to learn virtually next semester, however the deadline to apply is Monday.

Parents in Moberly can visit the school's website to find a link to the form needed.

The district said the online option for the Spring 2021 semester is much different than the online learning that took place while the district was virtual.

They said the Dec. 7 deadline is to ensure the district can make spring semester teaching assignments and allow teachers to plan their curriculum accordingly.

Students in Moberly are required to be available during class hours to participate and work with teachers and classmates.

The district is also reminding parents that students who are enrolled virtually will not be eligible for extra-curricular activities.

Students who are failing will not be eligible for virtual learning.

As students and staff return in Mexico, the district's Caring Comeback Plan has been updated to include a mask policy.

The new policy is in response to Governor Mike Parson's announcement that in schools with a mask mandate, where appropriate masks are being worn properly, students and staff would not be required to quarantine from school.
