Tracking a mild Thursday with scattered storms by afternoon

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with scattered storms by afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

EXTENDED: We remain mild tonight and largely rain free as any severe weather stays out to our west. Tomorrow is warm again, but with a warm front lifting north and increasing instability, we'll see a chance for a few scattered storms by afternoon. Storms look to become more numerous on Friday, with a few wind gusts to 40-50 mph possible. A cold front moves through to our south by Friday night into Saturday, giving us a cooler but dry start to the weekend. Highs on Saturday reach the upper 60s. Sunday is looking largely dry outside of a spot storm or two in the afternoon heat of the day with highs back into the 70s. I'm keeping an eye on the time frame between Monday and Tuesday for the potential of strong storms as a strong upper storm system swings in our direction in conjunction with a cold front. We'll have a lot of instability to work with and higher wind shear both days, so it will come down to the timing of that system to determine the highest severe threat. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-80s Monday with upper 70s on Tuesday.
