SATURDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports largest jump in COVID cases since September
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
UPDATE 6:40 P.M.: The Columbia/Boone County Health Department reported 118 new Coronavirus cases on Saturday, the largest new daily number reported since Sept. 4.
There have been 6,373 cases of the virus reported in Boone County. There were 522 active cases on Saturday.
The five-day average of cases jumped from 65 on Friday to 83 on Saturday.
There were 15 Boone County residents hospitalized with the virus on Saturday. There were 99 people in Boone County hospitals.
Out of that number, 25 people were in ICU's.
UPDATE 5:40 P.M.: The Chariton County Health Center reported three new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
There were 30 active cases of the virus. The county has reported 124 cases of the virus total since the beginning of the pandemic.
ORIGINAL: The Department of Health and Senior Services reported 2,986 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. That brought the total number of cases up to 183,186.
The state has reported 14,017 new cases in the past seven days. Missouri ranks 11th in the country for new cases.
The positivity rate was was at 13.9% on Saturday.
At least 2,517,550 people have been tested for Coronavirus.
DHSS also reported 99 new deaths related to the virus. There have now been 3,024 deaths across the state.
There were 1,629 people reportedly hospitalized with the virus on Saturday.
