MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Troopers arrested a Boonville man accused of shooting at a van on Interstate 70.

According to a news release, the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near the 175 mile-marker in Montgomery County.

Troopers and deputies say they arrived at the scene and discovered a driver, later identified as Chad Kennedy, fired a gun at another vehicle.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kennedy fired at a van with three people inside. Troopers said they were not hurt. After the victims' vehicle stopped, two semi drivers parked their trucks around the van to protect it from more gunfire, according to the patrol.

Kennedy allegedly drove away from the scene. Troopers later found him near Highway 63 and I-70 in Boone County. Authorities arrested Kennedy and took him to the Montgomery County Jail.

Prosecutors charged Kennedy on Wednesday with 10 felonies. The charges included assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Online court records show a judge ordered Kennedy to be held without bond during a hearing Thursday. Another hearing is set for next Thursday.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Kennedy.
