COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Wednesday in connection with an investigation on child pornography.

Adam Boaz, 29, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography and failure to register as a sex offender. Deputies started investigating Boaz after the sheriff's department received a tip from Google.

A release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force said Boaz had child porn on his phone. Deputies served a search warrant for Boaz at the Welcome Inn on Providence Road. Investigators alleged multiple child porn files were found on his device.

Boaz is being held in the Boone County Jail without bail.

Online court records show Boaz pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree child molestation in 2009 for an incident going back to 2008. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
